My name is Jeni Johnston, and I am currently a senior at Lynnwood High School, planning on double-majoring in biology and chemistry. My interest in biology education research stems from my experiences in STEM classes as both a student and tutor. I enjoy articulating STEM subjects in an accessible way for students who find subjects like biology, chemistry, and math challenging. I am fascinated by how social metacognition influences students’ performance and learning outcomes, and what the most effective strategies are for fostering high-level thinking and collaboration in groups. I hope to apply this knowledge throughout my education as I collaborate with peers. Outside of school and research, I enjoy reading, painting, and writing stories!
